Planning a winter wedding? Our next blog post in our “From Your Flower Shop” series is here to help with tips and tricks on choosing the perfect winter wedding bouquets and flowers!
You may think that having a wedding in the winter will limit your choices when it comes to flowers. And you would be WRONG! There are so many delightful flowers available in the winter…and you aren’t limited to just traditional blooms either.
Winter Wedding Bouquets
Winter wedding bouquets traditionally include a lot of white. If you want to go the traditional route, bouquets that include gardenias, narcissus paper white, oriental hybrid lily, phalaenopsis orchid, white roses, Star of Bethlehem, and stephanotis are some beautiful white flowers.
But you don’t have to stick with all white just because it’s winter. Cream and off white give a more vintage feel, or incorporate some colors! Reds make for a gorgeous winter wedding bouquet. Consider amaryllis, carnation, gerbera, rannuculus, red rose, or even French tulips. For an especially festive feel, poinsettias are always a great choice.
Don’t feel like you have to stick with only blooms. Winter wedding bouquets can include pussy willow branches with cute furry buds, mistletoe, sage green lamb’s ear, or white tipped pinecones to add to the feeling of a winter wonderland.
If you are going for Christmas wedding and want to really feel festive, holly with red berries can make any winter wedding bouquet pop.
Don’t forget filler stems! They can really round out a bouquet and add color and texture. Some year-round stems are statice sinuata, gypsophilia, Queen Anne’s lace, solidago, and limonium.
