The Rose Shop in Sandy, had the privilege and honor to design the funeral flowers for a very special man who had an inspiring story to tell. Mark Parry, was 33 years old when he passed away from stage four gastrointestinal cancer. Mark may have been born with Down Syndrome, but that didn’t stop him from having a zest and passion for life. Despite the painful cancer Mark was fighting, he never lost his spirit for life or the desire to care for others.
A few of Mark’s life passions were karate, martial arts and the TV show “Walker, Texas Ranger” starring Chuck Norris. Mark’s admiration for Chuck Norris began nearly 13 years ago when he saw Norris playing his famous character on the popular TV show. A few months ago, Parry had the opportunity to meet none other than, the Texas Ranger himself, Chuck Norris. Norris who was in town for a commercial shoot, traveled to Parry’s home and spent about thirty minutes chatting with Mark and signing Mark’s DVD’s and trying out Mark’s gym in the basement, proving he’s still in fighting shape. He then toured Mark’s room and viewed the two pictures of Walker, Texas Ranger, Mark had hanging on his wall. As Norris was leaving, He gave Parry a hug and told him “Now you’re a fellow Texas Ranger with me!”
Mark Parry died Friday April 14, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was 33 years old.
Adorning Mark’s casket, was a beautiful floral arrangement draped across a dark brown saddle and black cowboy hat. In the other corner a tall funeral spray, with a braided lasso and another black cowboy hat. All items given to the Parry family by Chuck Norris himself. What a fitting and heart felt story to add to the life of a caring and kind man.
